New Air Travel Options for Pets Take Flight

Pup Passengers, you are now free to move about in the cabin! Finally, no more scary cargo holds. Your dog’s got a ticket to fly in the comfort of the passenger cabin. Woof Report is delighted to share with you yet another airline that welcomes your furry friend onboard: Southwest Airlines. Last week, Southwest announced that small pets could now join them in the friendly skies. Read more about it below, plus get the facts on Jet Blue’s program that launched this past December, and the latest news about Pet Airways. Whether it’s under the seat in front of you, or in their very own pup planes, these great airline options treat your co-pilot right.

Southwest Airlines. For just $75 each way, Southwest Airlines invites your pup to travel with you in the cabin. It’s ideal for fur babies or other pets who can ride comfortably in a carrier under the seat in front of you. "Our enhanced boarding process has opened the window, allowing us to accommodate small pets comfortably on a Southwest flight – without impacting our efficiency," says Gary Kelly, Southwest Airlines Chairman, President and CEO. He welcomes "new pet customers" aboard any flight booked after June 1 and traveling after June 17. Just make sure yours is vaccinated, crated and small enough to count as your cutest carry-on ever.

Jet Blue. Headed abroad? Now you can take your pet with you. JetBlue is the only U.S. airline that welcomes your small pet in the cabin on international flights. They even reward you for bringing along your furry friend with extra frequent flier points for pet passengers. It’s all part of their new JetPaws program. For $100 each way, your small pup that can ride comfortably in a carrier under the seat is welcome aboard.

Pet Airways. Woof Report can’t wait for the July launch of this incredible pets-only airline.  We told you about Pet Airways, this past January, and this summer it finally takes flight. Book your furry pawsenger on a trip between New York, Washington D.C., Chicago, Denver, and Los Angeles for just $250 one-way, or get in right before the June 3rd deadline (that’s today!) for their $149 introductory offer. Your dog will be escorted to his comfy cabin kennel seat and cared for from take off to landing.
