September Bay Area Dog Events

Gorgeous weather, beautiful scenery, and the good company of your dog – welcome to your Bay Area weekend. Join the Woof Reporters to celebrate the good life at these two local puptacular events around the Bay.

11th Annual Bark in the Park – San Jose - September 20th

If you’ve ever wondered who’s driving your daily dog walk, than this your event. With a “Dogs Take the Lead” theme, the 2008 Bark in the Park welcomes over 10,000 dogs and 3,000 people to the largest Dog Festival in the county. Join the Woof Reporters for a day in the park complete with music, contests, celebrities, demonstrations, pet-related vendors, dog rescue agencies and fun stuff for kids and their best canine friends.

Take in the Flyball Canine Relay, the Dog Water Park, The Pet/Owner Look-a-like Contest and much more. There’s so much to do and you’ll feel good doing it, because Bark in the Park puts the “fun” in fundraising. With all proceeds benefiting the Campus Community Association (CCA), Humane Society of Silicon Valley and the San Jose Animal Care Center, it’s a party for dogs by dogs (that people can enjoy too).

5th Annual Burlingame Pet Parade – September 27th

For Bay Area dog people, every day’s a parade. But the city of Burlingame makes it official one day each year with the spectacular Pet Parade. The kind of old-fashioned town event that makes you so happy to live in the Bay Area, the Burlingame Pet Parade offers something for everyone. Enter your dream dog in the fierce competitions for Best Dressed Pet or Pet/Owner Combo. Unveil your float or wagon for the prize of Most Original. So much fun for kids of all ages, you don’t even need to have a dog. Kids without pets are invited to bring along a stuffed animal.

Take up your spot in this 30-minute stroll through town to the beat of live music. Stop into local stores, have a snack or lunch. It’s up to you. With souvenir ribbons for all participants, and first place ones for the competition winners, it’s a wonder this lovely event is free. Join the fun – here comes the parade!
