Groom & Board (and so much more). Step off the beaten path and into this one-of-a-kind pet place in NOPA. Highly rated by “yelpers”, Black Nose Trading Company carries tons of cool doggie paraphernalia. Think: vintage items like hand-made beds crafted from rare fabrics and refurbished antiques, hemp collars in retro designs, and unique dog-themed prints for the home.

Even better, two big Scottish Deerhounds help keep shop. Snoozing behind the counter or just hanging around, these mellow-mannered giants set the stage for a broad selection of large breed accessories. And we all know, big guy stuff is hard to find.

But wait there’s more. Reasonably priced boarding, day care and grooming are available too – and with a 7 p.m. closing time seven days a week. Bring your pooch in for the day and with two walks and a common area for doggie socializing, you’ll pick him up tired and happy.

Walt, the caring and inviting owner, lives upstairs and regularly boards four to five dogs at a time. No metal cages at this place — the hounds just lounge with Walt after work. Now that’s the way we want our pups treated when we leave town. Just like home.
