If you’ve been thinking of adding a new furry friend to your family, January 24th may be your lucky day. Thanks to Hill’s Pet Nutrition, 3,000 pets at over 500 shelters across the country will find new homes at no cost to their new families. It’s all part of Change a Pet’s Life Day. “Eight million pets a year enter shelters,” Janet Donlin of Hill’s said. “We are hoping that people who have been thinking about adding a pet to their family will take this opportunity to do so.”

To help reduce the number of homeless pets, visit www.feedingisbelieving.com for a list of all participating shelters by state. Free adoptions are limited to the first 10 pets at each shelter. Also visit the site to enter the Three Bag Challenge Sweepstakes for a chance to win a $5,000 donation to the shelter of your choice.

And to help promote a healthy, happy life with your pet, Hill’s just announced its new resource for new and current pet owners:  1-877-NEW-PET-LINE. Staffed by live experts trained by Dr. Jacqui Neilson, DVM of the American College of Veterinary Behaviorists, the New Pet Line helps people manage a variety of their pet’s behavioral and nutritional special needs from training to nutrition.
